ho hum

Things are good. I am doing much better, and thank you ALL for such sweet words and support. All of you have helped me this week and have made me smile...and cry:) All good though. I haven't cried in 24 hours, so I know I'm doing better.

Joshua is off work all this week, due to mandatory furloughs at work. Not having his income this week will be rough, BUT it has been a blessing too. I love having him home and so does Asa. We don't really see him much, so it's a treat to have him home with us.

Saturday was a really hard day for me. I just wanted to lay in bed and hibernate and not deal with anything. I was low. Asa had swimming in the morning, and I wasn't going to take him. I didn't mention it, thinking he would forget. Nope...20 minutes before we're supposed to be there, he decides he HAS TO GO TO SWIMMING LESSON! Yikers...I was in my nightgown, Asa was running around naked (he's into being naked lately, a phase?) and he hadn't even eaten. I quickly made him some bread and butter, pulled my hair into a ponytail and threw on some swim trunks on Asa. We looked pretty rough. We rolled in, with time to spare. As Asa walked into the pool, huge smile on his face, I felt pretty dumb for feeling sorry for myself. It's so much easier having a smile on my face then crying. Being low and sad is exhausting.

Saturday night was Papa's birthday party. Mom made the best enchilada's, beans and rice. I don't like enchilada's, but mom made me special ones with green sauce and they were FABULOUS! They are a favorite now. After dinner, we watched a boxing match. Our boxer lost, so that was a bummer, but being together was fun.

Sunday was a downer. No football. Spring training will start soon, and Asa's soccer is starting in March. I can't WAIT! I have missed soccer. Asa too. The last week he has been playing soccer in the hallway. He keeps telling me that he needs to get some exercise or he won't be able to play soccer.
Asa and I have been working on school books lately. Over the last year, he has told me that he doesn't want to go to school. He wants to stay home with me. Well, the last few weeks, he is ready for school. He tells me he wants to learn how to read and be with other kids and make friends. He is learning phonics and tries to pronounce words. If I say a word he isn't familiar with, he asks me to write it down and he studies it and writes it over and over again. He amazes me.

In the tub yesterday. He specifically asked me to put these on my blog.

I made brownies last weekend. Asa apparently hasn't had brownies that he can remember and just turned his nose up to them when I served us up some. I asked him to take a bite, to try something new...and he was glad that he did.

Asa eats very well. He has never been messy. He doesn't like to be messy when he's eating. It was my OCD that made him that way. BUT, when he eats chocolate, he's a different person. Anything chocolate. Candy, donuts, cookies, brownies. He makes a mess. I have observed him eating chocolate and he tunes everything out. He licks his lips over and over and just enjoys it so much. He can't have much because he literally turns into a crazy lunatic. When his hands get messy, with anything, he clenches them into a fist. I don't know why, he just does, until he can wash his hands.

Chocolate donut for breakfast.

He was tired of football last weekend. I was looking for him and he had crawled into our bed and gotten under the covers. He had turned on our TV in our room and was watching one of his shows.

I'm so happy to hear you are doing better. Thank goodness for Asa, he will not allow you to get to far into a rut.
He is so smart. He has such a desire to learn. He is going to do so well in school.
Enjoy your time with Josh. Do some fun stuff ;)

I'm so glad you are doing better. That's the great thing about kids, they don't let us stay in a slump. Asa is such a sweetie! And he is as cute as ever. I loved the pics. Brooklyn can't stand having her hands dirty either. She was helping Erik with his car last summer and got a little bit of grease on her hands. I couldn't believe how much she freaked out till we got them clean. Your still in my prayers. Love you!

God gave you the perfect child for you. He is so much fun and so smart. We played a game yest. well I played one after that I was just there and he played both of our parts. I think I was too slow for him. Naked in boys is so normal. At least it was with mine. So glad he is enjoying being a child. To quote Neil Diamond "life aint easy but it aint that bad." You are always in my prayers and thoughts. Love you all so much.

Trina, I've been so neglect! I didn't realize how long it's been since I read your blog and wow you guys have been on quite the roller coaster ride.

I'm so sorry for your loss, I've been through that myself and it is so hard (especially when the hormones hit) I hope you feel more like yourself soon.

Asa is so adorable! And I can tell even through cyberspace so SMART! After all I am a former kindergarten/grade 1 teacher! Keep working with him at home, when he goes to school he will be the smartest fish in the pond!

In the great scheme of life Family is everything! Money sure helps but I'll take my husband and kids over money anyday.

With your family you are rich indeed!

PS I agree with Grama. Boys totally do the naked thing. I felt successful if I could keep a pair of boxers on him at Asa's age. My daughter on the other hand loved to wear tutu's and slips!
