What a roller coaster week this has been. I'm ready to get off the ride and spend a great weekend with my little family. It is Joshua's short week, so he will have tomorrow and Sunday off. After work today, I plan on picking up the kids, running a few errands, going to my house and watching the little ones play in the kiddie pool. I see Popsicles in our future. Asa and I can eat an entire bag of banana, root beer and lime Popsicles in one sitting. He eats the limes and we share the bananas and root beer. Works out perfectly. OK, I got a little sidetracked there with the Popsicles....
Saturday we have been invited to 2 different family birthday parties and thinking we may have to make an appearance at both...what's not good about 2 birthday cakes in one day??? Sunday we are going a kids birthday party with a pirate theme. Asa is excited about that. I'm not so much.
Since I know you are all wondering how my mammogram went, it went fine. Always uncomfortable, but very important. I hope all my fellow blogger buddies are current with yours...if not? Please schedule one today. I'm not sure if all of you know this, but I had breast cancer in 1992. I was only 22. All I knew about mammograms was that my grandma had them done. With hormone levels and toxins in our foods, breast cancer is threatening younger and younger women. Schedule them around your birthday so you will remember to do one once a year. My public service announcement is now over.
Grama watched the kids yesterday afternoon so Sissy could go with me to my appointment and do lunch. Not kidding when I say that Sissy spun out leaving Grama's. Sissy would be the best race car driver in the world...if only she didn't have a family 4 cylinder sedan. There is a button on the dashboard (I can't remember what it's really for) and she will push it and pretend that it's a nitro button....those times remind me that I'm the older sister.
We had a great relaxing lunch and went for ice cream afterwards. Sissy is, as she calls it, an ice cream aficionado. After spending the day with the kids, instead of needing a glass of wine or a beer to chill, she says "I really need an icre cream." I am not into ice cream, but I always tag along and don't want to be a fun wrecker. We stopped in at the corner country drive in to get her ice cream that she gets every time we go to Grama's. After buying our ice cream we walked outside to sit on the outdoor tables. As Sissy and I were visiting and eating, I could see something was wrong with her. Her eyebrows were furrowed and she was not focusing on my interesting chatter....She looks at me so disgusted and says "this is the worst (expletive) hot fudge sundae I have ever had. Look, this fudge isn't melted..how (expletive) hard is it to make a hot fudge sundae?" I was laughing so hard. She was so angry, NOT laughing. She then pulls her spoon out of the dish and it has a literal WAD of chocolate stuck to it. She looks at me deadpan serious and says "I paid $4.00 (expletive) dollars for this!!!" I guess I would have felt the same way if I would have gotten served a warm Bud Light.
Please visit my dear friend Julia's blog. She is an amazing woman and doing great things for the children of Guatemala. I want you to all know what a true hero she is and why I adore her and her passion. She is an inspiration and makes me want to be a better woman, wife, friend and mother. Love you JUJU!!!
I'm so excited, Asa got his new issue of Nick Jr. magazine and we will have activities to do this afternoon. It's pretty sad when I get more excited than Asa when we get his periodicals. I remember being that excited when I would get issue of Vogue before it his the news stands. How times change. I wouldn't change it for the world.

Oh how I love banana and rootbeer popscicles! I would be (explative) mad if I paid $4 for a hot fudge sundae and the chocolate wasnt melted either. I'm with Sissy on that one.
Have a great weekend!!
Oh, that was a shitty assed "sundae". I made up for it while I watched "BB10". I had my strawberry ice cream with chocolate mint MELTED hot fudge on top. See? It's not BRAIN SURGERY!!!!! Ugh. And I'm still pissed they were out of choc chip mint. I was so happy when I saw on my google reader that you had your post up!!!!! How long have you been off your ativan now? And your ambien? LOL
You 2 are so funny with your ice cream... oh, and jealous of your popcicles... it is pouringhere all weekend... Is it really true that you all get a ton of rain there, or is that just in the movies?
Ice cream is serious business, and not something to be messed around with!
Hope you guys had a fun day with popsicles...and a great weekend to follow...
Miss you all,
~Christina, for all
Thanks for the shout out girl!
You know I love you too:)
So happy to hear the boob squeeze had good results!! they do squeeze your boob almost off - I hate them - and I have tiny ta-tas:)
I had the best visual of Cameo pushing the Nitro button and going into hyper-drive in her sedan!!!!!I guess I should call her Mario Andretti;)
I hope you have fun this weekend with your (I mean Asa's) new Nick Junior magazine;)
Eat a banana popsicle for me - that is my fav popsicle in the world!!!!!
GOSH - i wish you guys did not live so darn far away-I would be hanging at the kiddie pool with ya:)
And I sit here having just finished a skinny cow ice cream.. LOL I am with Cameo, who wants a cold clob of unmelted hot fudge sitting in their ice cream YUK!!!
Ya coulda had a lime or cherry popsicle (BOP) sorry all I can think about is how lucky your sissy is that you did not fling that spoon of cold fudge at her..hee hee.. food fight at a small local drive-in. You two are my smile for the day.. thanx for always posting something I can smile about.. Nick Jr a great magazine, how about Highlight with the great search and find, and discovery, there is so many wonderful kid magazines out there. So glad you got a good mammie ( my dear old mammie sing it out) And thanks for educating people, some docs tell you 35 yrs old for your base line, don't listen run don't walk and get that baseline in your 20's and catch it early so it is treatable, a breast self exam can detect a lump, however a mammie catches it between 5 and 7 times sooner in most cases. Trina you are a great example of the importance...
Have a wonderful fun filled cake filled weekend, I have tried since last Sunday to get a good piece of chocolate cake, tomorrow I am in search of one slice just one thin slice and I think I have a place in mind.. hello Larsens?
Hugs all around.

I went to KFC and ordered an 8 piece chicken dinner, when I got home, I found that they gave me 4 thighs, instead of the two each of breasts, wings, legs and thighs.
Thighs are not my favorite part of the chicken, they are too fatty, AnyWhoo,,,,,,I called them up and politely explained my Delima (hope thats spelled correctly, but probably not, oh well, you get my drift right) so they took my name and the next time I went through their drivethrough I got what I had wanted in the first place. they did "work" with me. I suppose one can catch more flies with honey than with vinagar. isen't that how that old saying goes. however, I did wait a while before I had made that phone call to KFC because I too was a bit upset and did not want to Respond to them unkindly. Im finding out, that its not what happens to us that really is important as much as Our "response" to what happens to us, this shows our true "Character". love to you all

Hey Trina,
Everything is fine on my home front from Ike. We just had windy overcast days. I do not live in a low lying area, so no flooding. The only flooding in my city was the areas that always flood. Most of those homes are raised high off of the ground.
I got word from my sister in Texas today. They are all fine. She went to San Antonio and did not have any problems. She got word from one of her neighbor and her Sugarland house is OK. We got lucky again!!!!
