Family

Yesterday was Valentina's birthday party. I walked into Sissy's house and it was exploding with Shrek paraphernalia. The day was gorgeous, so we were able to have the door open and the sun was shining in. It really was a perfect day. So many people came to celebrate with Valentina and everyone that came also brought a gift for Asa. These children are so blessed and so are we. We have a great family and wonderful friends. After everyone left, Asa and I hung out with Mom, Sissy, Norm, Papa and Valentina. Asa, I and Uncle Norm leisurely assembled the play kitchen that Valentina has gotten as a gift, and I played with Valentina's new toys. Sitting on the floor, just being together, laughing, joking, chasing the kids...it was great. I am so lucky to have the families that we have.

We started watching the Inauguration festivities today. I truly got choked up and started to cry when I saw the Obama girls, and then it just got worse. The monuments, the people, the music. I wish that we could be there and feel all the energy that goes along with it. It's just so exciting! Then I decided to DVR it....and started watching football....Go Stillers!

Asa is amazing me all the time. I don't know where he learns the things he does. Yesterday , he was a little nervous with all the people, and just sort of stood in a corner where he was alone. Once Joshua arrived, he sat out in the living room with the rest of us. Asa was telling Joshua something, and Joshua looked at me and smiled "did you hear what Asa just said?" I hadn't, and asked him what? Asa had told Josh that he was apprehensive about being nervous. He blows me away sometimes. Earlier in the week he said to me, while he was in the tub "Mum, pretty soon you're going to be a GRANDMA!" I said..."no I'm not...you have to have kids first before I can be a Grandma". He replied "well, I will have to be 18, and then I get to eat all the candy I want and I won't need you anymore after that". It broke my heart...knowing that that day does come eventually.

This weather here has been amazing. Sun, sun and more sun. It has given me spring fever. Right now it is 56 degrees and sunny.

Well, all this sunshine coming through the window, hitting my back is making me very sleepy, so I think I'm going to take a nap:)

Trina,

The fact that Asa can say that he "won't need you" anymore reflects what a capable independent young man he will become... because of you. Believe me, hearing Jeff talk to HIS mom, and the relationship I have with mine tells me that there will never be a time when a man doesn't need his mommy. You are a wonderful mom. everyday.

Love you - J

We had a nice day today too. It is nice to feel the warm sun.
Believe me, mom of two grown boys, your little man will always need you. Yes he will grow and be independent, but he will need you in the little ways. A phone call, hey mom how do you cook........ Or mom will you come with me to talk to the jewelry for ...... engagement ring. Those kinds of things. You have so much to look forward to with Asa.

Cameo Me too. Trina you are the best Mom so it shouldn't surprise you how grown up and independent your little man is. He reminds me a lot of Norman when he was that age. He is more independent now too. That doesn't mean they don't still love us they just don't NEED us as much. Love all of you so much
