Friday afternoon, I kidnapped Sissy and Valentina and we did a Wally Land run (that's what Asa and Joshua call Wal Mart). As Asa and I were carting out of the store, we walked by the Wal Mart "day spa". There sitting in a pedicure chair was Santa, sitting with hot towels on his legs. Asa blurted out "THERE'S SANTA! HE'S GETTING A PEDICURE!" It was weird. When I hear the name Santa or see a Santa, I can't shake the image of pedicure Santa.
Asa had been asking for 2 days straight to go and see the Christmas Tree in our down town park. Asa and I were going on a date to see the tree. I called Sissy to see if her and Vali would like to go. She said she didn't want to go because Valentina was going to go to bed in an hour blah, blah, excuse, blah. Then she asked me "Are you just going to drive by, or are you getting out of your car?" I answered "of course we're getting out of the car. We are going to see the Christmas tree!". Sissy then replies "we're coming with you if you are getting out of the car. It's dangerous to be walking about willy nilly in the park at night." I argued with her telling her how ridiculous she was being. It was 5pm, with stores all around. After agreeing to pick her up, I got to thinking how much she sounded like our grandmother. Dangerous....willy nilly...dark...park.... Our Grandmother would have never allowed us to go out after dark, it was much too dangerous. I took comfort in the fact that Sissy is carrying on some traits from our dear Grandma..not to mention Sissy's obsession with flax seed, omega 3's and iron deficiency. SO, to make a long story longer....we got to the park, bundled up Valentina and Asa finally got to see what he calls "the tallest Christmas tree in the world". He stood up to it, looked at it briefly, turned to me, slapped me on the butt said "TAG, YOUR IT!" and ran off into the darkness. The 2 days of whining to see the tree, the arguing with sissy about going alone to the park and the 1/2 hour it took to get Vali bundled up for the walk and it was all for a 5 second look at the tree. It didn't matter...that's what it's all about....memories.
As I was signing off on my TGIF post Friday with Shake N Bake, I realized that I'm tired of Shake N Bake. I need a new TGIF closer. I figured I would keep an open mind and think hard and long on what I would change it to. I watched Saturday night live. Typically I can't stay up that late and end up falling asleep before it starts. I have to say that I laughed out loud to every skit that night. So, from now on, my TGIF catch phrase is no longer Shake N Bake. It has been replaced with "Keep it cool". So true peeps, keep it cool.

just wanted you to know that i love you and think you rock:)
You guys have so much fun! I hope one day my sister has kids:)
Anxious to hear about lil man's growing pains...please let us know when you know something:)
Besos!!
"keep it cool"
I LOVED THAT ONE!!! And does he NOT sound and look JUST like Obama????
IT WAS PITCH BLACK OUTSIDE!!!! And you failed to mention that the park is BIG. People in the business's wouldn't be able to tell if you and Asa had been knocked on the head and carted you away. IT WASN'T SAFE to go alone.
FLAX SEED IS GOOD FOR YOU!!!! Iron deficiency can cause a whole crap load of problems. I'm sure that's what is wrong with Asa. Guess I'll be the one saying "I told you so". And it all started when I STOPPED putting flax seed in his pancakes because of all the FLAX you and mom gave me. SOMEONE has to keep our family safe since you and mom insist on running around willy nilly in the darkness. Now STOP ROUGH HOUSING!!!
LOL, running around in a dark park sounds like fun! Its totally something that I would do. My great grandma always worried about things like Cameo. I miss her.
You two are soo funny. I am glad Cameo is taking over for your Grandmother. Better safe than sorry. I too hope to hear that Asa is well. If flax helps I am getting some. Miss all of you so much
Love you
Yikes! That Santa Claus thing is just too freaky. I don't think kids should be privy to that!
Keep it cool rocks although I did like your Shake n' Bake. When I taught Kindergarten/Grade 1 we used to say to the kids, " keep it cool, stay in school" Yeah I'm old. LOL
